Alexander Wang’s futuristic brand of American sportswear took a new twist this season. Cut out black leather dresses took on the role of armour, sculpting their way around each model’s body like sci-fi protection. Gladiator sandals crept up the legs, while white leather dresses hung effortlessly around the hips, like cut-out paper snowflakes. Futuristic shiny black visors completed Wang’s warrior woman look. Amongst the A-list cast of models was Liberty Ross who strode proudly forward, truly encapsulating the designer’s calling for a brave new world. The finale saw the lights go down then strobe lights flash to a techno beat, illuminating the models’ dresses a dazzling day-glo yellow. Knowing how much he likes to party, it came as a surprise when Alexander denied the rave associations backstage after the show. “Oh no, no, it wasn’t ravey at all,” he told i-D with a cheeky grin, “It was about otherworldly beings, taking them to the future and making them glow!” And glow they did.
