With just a few weeks to go until his nuptials, could it be that Jonny Johansson is going all soft on us? Acne has always possessed a romantic sensibility – take for instance Jonny’s fondness of the Swedish Grace era of the early twentieth century – but the beautiful SS13 collection felt distinctly more willowy and dreamy than previous seasons. The freshly painted walls of Park House set the stage for an Acne show, which above all seemed like a declaration of love to the new. If the appearance of parachute skirts were anything to go by, it’s safe to say that Jonny is having a bit of a creative skydive at the moment, feeling the wind beneath his feet and what not. Two tops even had the word ‘new’ plastered across them. An Emmylou Harris cover of Neil Young’s Wrecking Ball inspired the collection, whose penchant for delicate floaty-ness still left space for some of the sleek rock ‘n’ roll vibes that Acne’s diehard fans live for. Case in point: the maxi-chequered leather gilet and jacket, or the killer ankle-slit trousers, which – excuse the cliché that’s about to hit you – will give any girl legs for days. For days!
