Last week, superstar Jeanette celebrated his birthday with friends at ‘Printers and Stationers’ in Hackney. First seeing Jeanette in i-D in 2006, fan and friend Rebecca Thomas photographed the celebrations and here shares her favourite things about him.

“I can still remember the first photographs I ever saw of James Jeanette, they were in the November 2006 issue of i-D, shot by long term collaborator Benjamin Alexander Huseby. The pictures looked like they were lost shots of an off-duty star from the golden age of Hollywood, mixed with East London club kid. James Jeanette has inspired, amused and entertained so many people it’s hard to know where to start. He’s turned to his hand to many creative areas, from running his own boutique, to modelling, performing, styling, and really just being himself to the max, all the time. My personal highlight has to be when Jeanette was the only boy model in Richard Nicoll’s SS11 catwalk show, he showed the girls how it’s done. More recently he starred in Nils Bech’s video for A Sudden Sickness. Here’s what a couple of his friends had to say about him…”
“I would say Jeanette is a modern day style icon.” Princess Julia
“I’ve got three words to describe Jeanette – fun, trouble and dangerous.” Kim Jones
Jeanette will be hosting a club night, ‘Wicked Beauty’ with Louise Gray at The Victory, 281 Kingsland Road, this Saturday. Entry £5.
