Softly-spoken and sweetly-sung, Channy Leaneagh is front-girl of the almost unknown Auto-Tune ensemble, POLIÇA, whose space-age trip-pop is fresh on the music scene.
The other half of POLIÇA comes in the shape of Ryan Olson, mastermind of synthetic manipulation and lynchpin of super-group, Gayngs. Their unashamed use of Auto-Tune gives the 11 tracks on POLIÇA’s debut LP Give You The Ghost, a super-slick flow with Channy’s velvet vocals cascading over digitised beats. Using the age-old muse of a recent break-up as lyrical motivation, the album echoes a bittersweet acceptance smoothed together with percussive pop and distorted vocals. This slight of frame, slightly beatnik Minneapolian can count Bon Iver front-man, Justin Vernon and superstar MC Jay-Z as major players in her fanbase with Jigga initiating them into the blogosphere by posting hypnotic track ‘Lay Your Cards Out’ on his Life+Times blog.
