i-N Conversation: The Vaccines

Raucous rock’n’rollers and 2011’s Great British guitar heroes The Vaccines may only have released their debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? 16 months ago but they’re not waiting around for aeons to move on to the next.

Despite a whirlwind year that saw them hitting arenas across the country with Arctic Monkeys and packing in a massive 45 festivals in one summer, the West London band have still somehow found time to get in the studio and nail second LP The Vaccines Come Of Age. It’s a feat made even more impressive by the downtime forced upon the group whilst singer Justin Young had to undergo three operations to repair damaged vocal chords that threatened the future of the band.

With its release date set for September 3rd, the countdown to the new record is on. If lead track ‘No Hope’ and new single ‘Teenage Icon’ are anything to go by, it’ll be trademark Vaccines – played fast, loud and fun with plenty of big hooks and fist-pumping rock star moments. i-D online caught up with Justin and bassist Árni Hjörvar to get the lowdown on the new album.
