Owning in the region of 20,000 records, Squarepusher uber fan and classically trained instrumentalist Kris Di Angleis first began making music when he was fourteen. Today he is a staple on the London party scene and the stylish accessory every pair of decks should own. i-D online hung out with this season’s man about town to find out what he gets up to on a typical day, when out and about.

“My days are long but colourful. I live with a drag queen, I’m addicted to Boot Camp classes and I show no mercy on the world before my morning cup of Herbalife Tea. Being a DJ is great, making my own music is even better. I can play most instruments and make music anywhere. Obviously, I picked a slightly crazier day to feature for this, but it’s not much different week to week if I’m honest. So no word of a lie, I got up, left my house, and walked straight into this a parade of musical, motorbike riding fancy dressed snails. I literally have no idea at all what this is, why it happened, or who they were. I like that though, if I had to make sense of everything I saw on my way to breakfast, never mind at my actual gigs, I’d feel 80 years old. This was going to be one of those days where I had to look pretty (we’ll get to why in a minute) so I delegated responsibility for this to my friend Jules who works at St. Tropez. Now I know this might seem a bit naff at first right, but hear me out. I work a lot of hours, I work nights, and I can drink any Russian gangster under the table. If I didn’t get any help then my natural skin colour would be called ‘He Died’. To prove this I took my camera into the booth. Onwards and upwards to the studio where I’ve been finishing my single with Waterson ‘When You Tell Me That You Love Me’. After this I had to attend a photoshoot for Room Service, my Thursday night residency run by my fleabag of a flatmate Jodie Harsh. The shoot is suitably debauched, and features my other favourite tranny Munroe Bergdorf. I just sat in a corner for most of the shoot and played Streetfighter 2, and won. Later l had to play at Shoreditch House for their Bank Holiday Pool Party, which I was really excited about as Friendly Fires were playing with me and I LOVE them! After that, I ended up not-entirely-sober at Horse Meat Disco, dancing to my No. 1 DJ Severino’s beats and telling everyone I loved them.”
