i-Society: Kings Cross Filling Station

i-D online goes laser questing in celebration the Vauxhall Ampera Season at new arts and culture hub, Kings Cross Filling Station (aka KXFS).

Yesterday, the lovely Mandi Lennard invited i-D to toast to the inaugural season of cultural programming at KXFS. Supported by Vauxhall Ampera, an unusual evening ensued; there were super salty margarita slurpees, prosecco on tap (as it always should be) and lots and lots of pizza-bearing models. As darkness descended, pop science kids super/collider – who recently attempted to craft their own particle accelerator at Milan Design Week, as well as travelling far into the Swedish wilderness to witness the transit of Venus across the sun - launched a colourful laser fusion light show across the canal-side courtyard. A particularly well-endowed canal-side courtyard that’s also home to Bistrotheque’s sea-friendly, new-born sister Shrimpy’s. Anna Trevelyan and Ella Dror told us about a top secret project which is SUPER exciting, Deano Jo and Ronojoy Dam made our mouths water with tales of the fried chicken at Rita’s above birthdays in Dalston, Matthew Josephs and Shaun Samson totally promised us a SS13 cat T-shirt (remember that?), and Matthew Stone and Princess Julia fed us the inside scoop on the NY Ballroom scene. You’ll be hearing a lot more about all that stuff soon. Watch this space.

Kings Cross Filling Station is now open daily on Goods Way, N1C 4UR.
