Dapper gentlemen were the order of the day at Junya Watanbe, who showed his SS13 menswear collection over breakfast on a bright sunny morning in Paris. Guests took their seats at café tables scattered either side of the catwalk and were served reviving coffees, croissants and pain aux chocolates. Just like the breakfast, the collection was full of delicious morsels guaranteed to get your mouth watering. There were casual blazers in pink, baby blue and grey worn with mismatched trousers and Liberty print shirts. Wall Street suits in brown, slate and check, dressed down with scruffy hair and crisp white plimsolls, and a heap of desirable denim. The mood was elegant and romantic – with a sniff of nostalgia. You could imagine these gentlemen opening the door for you and escorting you on a romantic stroll along the Seine, something made more apparent when the models whipped off their jackets at the end of the runway to carry them nonchalantly over their shoulders.
