i-Think: Team i-D on LC:M

That was the week that was. And what a week it was!

Last week The Big Smoke played host to London’s inaugural “London Collections: Men”. Where usually London’s menswear designers show at the end of the women’s collections on just one day, we were treated to three full days of uninterrupted man mania. Not only did this mean more time on the designer’s hands but also that they had significantly more prominence on the buying schedule. Coming at the very beginning (before Florence, Milan and Paris) ensured that the keen eyes of buyers from stores across the world were at their most perky and eager. Our fair city and its crack team of creative heads did not disappoint. Accompanied by some backstage shots from Martine Rose, Matthew Miller and Xander Zhou (top, middle, bottom respectively), here are some of Team i-D’s highlights.

NB everyone was asked for one tip top moment, needless to say they came back with fistfuls, it was a weekend of memorable moments…

Sean Baker, Online Editor
I want to wear Omar to the beach, SIBLING to The Wolseley and Xander to the moon.

Sarah Raphael, Online Editor
Zie Germans at Matthew Miller with a pitch perfect 80s Berlin soundtrack from TEED; the scene at Meadham Kirchhoff and how they insist on rebelling every time; the owl film at Christopher Raeburn; and how practically every boy in Alistair Carr’s final collection for Pringle of Scotland, looked like Alistair Carr.

Caroline Newell, Fashion Editor
Martine Rose‘s oversize, bleached out, double denim, orange neoprene, 90′s rock tees; faceless bank robbers with loads of swag. J.W Anderson; backstage, show stylist Benjamin Bruno described the collection as “A lullaby for bookish bats on poppers and space-age emo-prawns”. Could not have put it better myself.

Elgar Johnson, Fashion Editor
Astrid‘s new wave sportswear, Christopher Raeburn‘s slick and masculine collection and a special shout out to Kit Neale for his collection and his snake and Katie Eary for her collection and her dancing down the catwalk proper, great rhythm. Oh and of course the i-D dinner, pure inspiration.

Dean Kissick. Deputy Editor
Katie Eary playing Waka Flocka Flame’s “Round Of Applause”, Christopher Shannon closing with Cheryl Cole‘s “Call My Name”, and Shaun Samson‘s scary cat T-shirts.

Ger Tierney, Fashion Assistant
Astrid‘s boys, perfect casting, and James Long‘s panelled shorts, please make them for girls!
