Tomas Maier was inspired by the ease and informality of the pullover for SS13. Which translated into a vast array of garments that men can pull over their heads. Cue wide neck sweaters, ethnic hoodies and bohemian tunics. The key fabric was suede, light as cotton and in long layers. Lacing was the fastening of choice, reiterating the louche hippy vibe and relaxed ease that ran through the collection. Even tailoring got the unstructured carefree treatment, with one suit veiled in organza for an inside-out effect, whilst another was cut from hazy gauzy layers of washed out floral print. The earthy colour palette, the suedes, the fringing and the hint of ‘Midnight Cowboy’ created a good-time Americana feel with freedom in its veins.
