Berluti Paris turned out to be Friday’s hot ticket. Founded in 1895 by Alessandro Berluti, the brand has equipped the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Andy Warhol, Robert de Niro, Elizabeth Arden and Gérard Depardieu with shoes, leather goods and luxury accessories. Now part of the LVMH empire, and into its second season of RTW, it’s no less high brow. Last night’s garden party at the Jardin du Palais Royale attracted superstars Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson and i-D coverstar Carine Roitfeld. Shoes were still the staple, with luxury leather loafers and lace ups neatly polka dotted across the entire central lawn in every colour under the rainbow. The Berluti garden had its own mini-maze, with hedge cut outs revealing model ankles in tan loafers and triple zip carry-ons, and a suave leather bound model around every corner. A 50s feel ran throughout the collection, in trenches, safari jackets, polo shirts and pullovers and emphasis in every case was on craft and luxury in its absolute form. If that was only round two in the Berluti game, expect big things for the seasons to come.
