A.P.C. Paris, 29/06/12

Sipping homemade lemonade away from the boiling Parisian heat, A.P.C.’s easy, breezy presentation was a breath of a fresh air. By chance, the first thing we noticed was a small, discreet label on blue stripy swimming shorts that read ‘Good Luck: Fear no God. Trust no concept. Nothing is true. Everything is permitted’. Which seemed a little out of place on go-lucky, reduction tan line swim shorts. But then we remembered who started it, A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou, a man with a sense of humour, a sense of irreverence and strong views. The neat, barely noticeable slogans continued, in tiny font on a white T-shirt pocket reading ‘We do our part’, and in bigger letters on a printed T-shirt reading ‘Ship of Fools’, which made us smile more found in amongst the semi-nautical themed rail. Sleepy soft jumpers, smooth denim jackets with beige suede collars, yellow jeans, coral jeans and their brother, blue jeans, made up the staples. Linen featured heavily, in keeping with the ‘keep it light’ mantra of A.P.C., and camo and fluro made subtle appearances throughout. A.P.C. designer Louis W. also presented the second season of his eponymous, special interest collection (pictured bottom left and bottom right). The capsule features jackets including The Easy Rider (Dennis Hopper on a motorbike for those who haven’t seen the film), The Tom Cruise, circa Top Gun and The Cheerleader, a bright gold show stopper of the high kick variety. Give me an A. Give me a P. Give me a C.
