Like a lot of the City of Light, Phillip Lim’s SS13 show was a stunning combination of Art Nouveau ornamentation and athletic minimalism – like a sporty kid sat under one of the Paris Métro signs. It started out in sharp whites layered on top of one another, and by look three we were already blown away… a baggy hip hop polo with sleeves drooping over the elbows, in shades of Jersey cream contrasted against a snowy white collar, worn over a tight vest with an untucked shirt trailing out of who knows where? Look twenty one, a basic, slouchy white tee with the same XL cut, stole our hearts, rising above an Aubrey Beardsley boiler suit in navy-black and bronze florals. And as summer’s all about shorts over shorts (try it today, before it’s too late!), Phillip showed his over pretty-long-johns that dropped to the socks. Apart from the amazing styling, there was also trill detailing throughout: bleached-out denim effects achieved on biker jackets and short-sleeved Vs, exquisitely embroidered and panelled sweats, and a Matrix trench in mesh and leather. We love 3.1 Phillip Lim!
