As 2012 marks Stone Island’s 30th year as trailblazers of high-tech, innovative menswear, they’re celebrating their time at the top with quite a bang.

With an extensive retrospective of their work opening in Florence in June, last week an exclusive preview event for their AW12 collection made for a fine warm-up. Held in their brand-spanking new store on London’s Brewer Street, Stone Islanders revelled amongst the new offerings and i-D got snap happy amidst the crowd, here’s what we found:
From left.
Kevin
Describing himself as ‘a pitbull with a soft side’, Kevin is seen here teaming his Stone Island jacket with a pretty menacing array of rings and studs. A long-standing fan of all things Stone Island, Kev loves the brand’s heritage and is a great admirer of its original creator, Massimo Osti (RIP).
Dilraj
London-based electrician Dilraj is snapped in front of the new Stone Island flagship on Brewer Street, kitted out in one of the brand’s bombers. Describing his style as ‘unique’, his love of Stone Island is rooted in childhood memories.
Ben Banks
Working for must-bookmark multi-brand e-tailer oki-ni, Ben Banks knows a tonne about slick threads. Here he teams his Stone Island polo and jacket with CP Company trousers and a fresh pair of New Balance. A fan of Stone Island’s mix of artisanship and technicality, Ben describes his own style as ‘casually technical’.
Ben Bicknell
Hopping down from Stoke for Stone Island’s shopping event, Piczo captures Ben B. sporting a buttoned up S.I. shirt with some crisp Edwin denims, tan brogues and thick-rimmed Ray Ban specs. Taking on SS12 like a hurricane, Ben’s May is filled with weekend BBQs and a Greg Wilson summer soundtrack.
Lee
Tunbridge Wells based security guard Lee dresses from the vibrant end of the Stone Island rainbow, highlighting his burnt orange sweater with bright white S.I. trousers, canvas kicks and a pristine New Era cap. When asked what he was up to at the weekend, Lee replied: “Hopefully taking a girl to see Prometheus”. Fingers crossed for Lee!
Tyrone
Given five words to describe himself Tyrone opts for ‘man that loves Stone Island’, a pretty apt choice given the location of his straight-up snap. A monochromatic man, Tyrone’s style signature is simple but deadly. Which way to the beach?!
