Deep breath: Javeon Mccarthy, Jaymo & Andy George, Behling and Simpson, Hot since 82, Pardon My French and i-D’s own Milly McMahon all performed to an incredible turnout of fervent music enthusiasts for May’s i-D MIX, the second instalment of our new monthly music night.

Channelling a steady flow of traffic through XO’s freshly painted doors for five hours of house-flavoured, freshly hip-hop licked beats, Wednesday night’s activity certainly woke the neighbours. Welcoming avid attendees for no entry fee, the only policy i-D upholds is ‘the dancefloor must be full at all times’, which it was until the lights came on.
Performing a totally exclusive showcase, speedily-rising star Javeon Mccarthy’s electronically-backed, sweetly-sung set raised the roof. Performing new single and i-D May mixtape opener ‘Precious‘ as well as previously unheard material, Javeon was preceded by fellow Bristolians Pardon My French and followed by techno tearaways Behling & Simpson. Headliners and BBC Radio 1 golden boys Jaymo & Andy George got the packed floor pulsing before Hot since 82 signed-off the night with rambunctious success. See you all next month for round three!
