Blue-eyed, deep-house German DJ duo the Adana twins love vintage hip hop and having it large.
They look the same and they sound the same, DJ Take It Easy and Friso used to turn tunes behind the decks alone, before combining forces to become the almighty Adana twins. Travelling the world, playing their signature funky trip-pop, synth-soaked sets, both boys are dedicated to making music to fuel fun and keep fists pumping. They prefer to not take the beats too seriously, making the vibe at their parties entirely energetic. The i-D office got in the mood for the Easter break with an exclusive mix from the lads, here’s to the four day weekend!
Which one of you is older? Friso. He is the man with the yellow sweater on the Everyday Cover.
Funnier? We can’t take a joke!
Prettier? We are twins, we look the same.
What are your backgrounds in music? Our background is mainly in Hip-Hop, Funk & Soul and I learned to play keyboard and the flipple pipe in a little music school. Damn, the thing with the flipple pipe was horrible. But my mum loved it.
Being part of a duo, do you clash often or are you quite like-minded when it comes to your ideas? Sure we have different ideas sometimes but it feels natural to us to fuse those different ideas into one main thing, we normally don’t clash. That’s how our sound develops.
What is your greatest achievement in your careers to date? That we are still friends and that our parents are buying our tracks ☺.
What are your plans for the summer? To get in bikini shape and go to Ibiza!
Where is your favourite place to party? We love small clubs but we also like to play outside, when the sun is shining!
What’s on your essential Summer soundtrack? Some old school tracks from the early ninetees; house, disco, funk and Hip-Hop.
Where do you see the Adana Twins in five years? On the beach with milkshakes and sunbeams! we are not thinking not too far into the future.
