Collared, zipped, buttoned and pocketed, the denim jacket is a century-spanning wardrobe essential. Bringing the menswear must-have bang into the here and now, the clever clogs at TOPMAN have collaborated with some of fashion’s brightest shining stars from the UK and the USA to offer a fresh new take on the coating classic.

As London gets set to host its very own week of menswear for the first time ever this summer, and the New York mens’ fashion massive show themselves to be stronger than ever, the project is a thoroughly contemporary celebration of all things boyish and beautiful.

Inspired by TOPMAN’s chosen band of brothers (and sisters), i-D Fashion Editor, Elgar Johnson and Contributing Photographer, George Harvey created a boyband of their own. Ladies and gentlemen, lock up your daughters, this is Boys R Us!

Here in Part One of the pop-tastic saga, we introduce you to three of the leading lads, dressed to the nines in their TOPMAN gladrags.

From left:

Get ready girls, 22-year-old bad boy Bastian Thiery is here to achy break your hearts with his razor sharp cheekbones. Choosing Johnny Depp to play him if Tarantino were to make a movie of his life, Bastian reckons himself to be quite the lothario. Here, the brown-eyed boy is snapped wearing US designer Mark McNairy’s TOPMAN denim jacket, a pretty dashing Moschino shirt and trouser set, and a cracking pair of Kickers.

Boxing boyo Alex Whipham is jam-packed full of get up and go, so get set to scream and shout. Wearing a TOPMAN denim jacket crafted by London’s finest Katie Eary, he’s looking slick, suave and ready to boogie. Here, Alex couples his Katie creation with a TOPMAN tee, PRPS jeans and Kickers kicks.

The quietest, most unassuming of the bunch of boys, baby-faced 17-year-old Xavier Mama packs a pukka pout. Partial to a spot of Kanye and Mac Miller, Xavier comes complete with a steely gaze and impeccable barnet. Sporting Brit boy Oliver Spencer’s TOPMAN jacket, T-shirt and trousers from Forgotten Future and Kickers shoes, this style-savvy star is here to stay.

Topman’s Denim Jacket Project pieces are available online and in store from today!
