Swatch with a Heart

This is England star Vicky McClure shows us around her hometown of Nottingham, her working world of Soho, and shows off her Swatch with a Heart!

Vicky McClure is the Nottingham born, BAFTA-winning actress who firmly believes home is where the heart is. Nicely established as one of the UK’s most exciting young talents, she has been acting since her teens, with a 2006 breakthrough performance as troubled heroine Lol in Shane Meadows’ gritty 80s skinhead saga This is England. A critical success, the film also attracted a large cult following, and Meadows followed it up with the TV drama This is England 86 and the most recently aired This is England 88. Vicky’s standout performance won her a BAFTA in May 2011. “You don’t work towards getting awards”, she says, “but I was massively proud of myself.” Even with a BAFTA under her belt and the future looking so bright, Vicky keeps her feet firmly on the ground. She’s still based in Nottingham, the city in which she was born and raised, and divides her time between London and the Midlands – no mean feat for any hard-working actress. This there’s-no-place-like-home attitude is why i-D sees the ever-stylish Vicky McClure as the ideal icon for the Swatch “I Heart” Campaign. Launching this Spring, Swatch have cleverly crafted the New Gent Lacquered collection of watches with a heart – available in an array of bright shades, each watch has its own individual design and comes complete with a unique multi-coloured face that exposes its inner mechanics. To help celebrate the launch of the Heart watch, Vicky took i-D around both Soho and Nottingham, exclusively revealing the places that inspire her and the sites that make her tick; from Soho Square and Tricia’s Bar in London to the Carlton TV Workshop and Wollaton Park in Nottingham.
