As Bjork’s ‘Violently Happy’ filled the beautiful Palais d’Iéna in Paris, Miuccia’s girls appeared on the beige lacquered runway dressed in patterned trouser suits swirled in 70s colours and prints. With sturdy glam rock platforms, psychedelic eye shadow, kipper ties, and hair that was shaped and slicked to look like sideburns, the look was stylish English Dandy meets Austin Powers. Mannish tailoring in a classic Miuccia palette – bilious mustard, Air Force blue and deep purple were layered over ruffle-fronted shirts featuring fine prints that later emerged to take over the suits, in prints combining a heady mix of pink and blue, raspberry and turquoise, orange and brown, pink and green or purple and tan. A modern psychedelica we can’t wait to get our hands on.
