Never one to do things by halves, current i-D cover star and Creative Director at the House of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld swept through Japan in style this week with a string of events demonstrating the maestro at his very best. Inviting guests, including i-D Fashion Director, Charlotte Stockdale and Fashion Contributor, Katie Lyall, Karl and Co laid on a feast of fashion happenings. A regal trinity of events, whilst in the city, Karl treated the fashion-pack to a dinner, the opening of Chanel’s ‘Little Black Jacket‘ exhibition and of course the French fashion house’s stratospheric couture show. Taking place in the Shinjuku Gyoen National Gardens, the Japanese Spring had truly sprung with cherry blossom in full bloom throughout the grounds, setting the perfect tone for the show. Within a hanger-like structure in the centre of the gardens, Karl laid on a couture collection the fashion jet-setters could truly coo over. Recreating the Chanel aircraft fashion fans will be familiar with from his previous season’s couture show, i-D fav Lindsey Wixson and London lass Edie Campbell stormed the runway with big barnets and even bigger bling! Arigatou Chanel. All hail King Karl!
