Sex, aristocrats and weekend hunts in the country seemed to be the themes at John Galliano designed by Bill Gaytten this season. For a man cast into the hot seat, Gaytten did a nice job with this show and all the pleated dresses and coats with demi-capes (for supporting shooting rifles) will surely be a hit for the house next winter. With thigh high stockings, the signature Galliano lace-up platforms, knickerbockers and androgynous play on tailoring, this collection oozed sex appeal. The colour palette took its cue form the rich autumnal colours of feathers plucked from the hunting game, indeed the models wore plumage gathered at a cocky angle across their dramatic berets. Frills and flounce, lingerie and the 1940s – this is what women look for in the Galliano brand. They also look for dramatic evening wear and Gaytten delivered this with fourteen tightly edited looks at the end of the show.
