Scratcha DVA is an unsung hero of London’s underground music scene.
Dabbling in sounds from grime to funky and house to soul, there’s no doubt you would’ve heard one of Scratcha’s many killer dancefloor cuts in recent years. For his long awaited debut LP Pretty Ugly out this Monday on Hyperdub Records, Scratcha’s brought all four sounds together like only he can, resulting in one hell of an album. As well as DJ’ing and producing, you can catch DVA presenting Hyperdub’s monthly musical showcase on Rinse FM. i-D online caught up with DVA to hear more about the LP, his grand plans for 2012 and what happens when you fall asleep in a studio.
