Trust are the Toronto-based duo made up of Robert Alfons and Austra’s Maya Postepski. Described as “a pop hit factory buried deep in the mud”, their new brand of lo-fi gothic synth is something not heard since – dare we say – the 80s.
Trust is working to inject a breath of fresh air into electronic music and with Robert’s piercing vocals over Maya killing it on the drums, the product is a hauntingly beautiful blend of highs and lows in just under 5 minutes. Now signed to Toronto label Arts and Crafts with fellow Canadian heavy hitters Feist and Chilly Gonzalez, and recently wrapping up shows at this year’s SXSW, Trust is an act worthy of all their hype. In addition to generating a huge buzz on the blogs and garnering critical acclaim well before the recent release of their debut album TRST, the duo also sold out their first headlining show in Toronto earlier this year.
