Not one foot wrong. Creative director Clare Waight Keller delivered her second runway show for Chloé inside Les Jardins Des Tuileries and surely each piece of this very wearable collection will sell itself next winter. Keller chose a soft palette of caramel, peach, mushroom with dusty primrose, mandarin and blue. In short she’s stuck to the Chloé brief but where Prada and Miu Miu are having an extreme 70s revival, Keller has just turned down the volume on the colours and prints and added some wintry cosiness in the form of soft undercoats and jackets throughout. The collection is kept au courant by giving a big nod to the emerging trends: luxury track pants, untucked and louche elements from masculine tailoring, and leather and lamb meets sportwear. She played expertly with textures, a quilted leather skirt under an untucked lace shirt under a printed light shearling top. The shoes were a very clean cut, sensible heel yet Keller’s eye can be felt on every angle and clasp. This collection right down to the bags oozes the thought and contemplation that Keller puts into every detail of what she does. Elsewhere Chloé completed a first in fashion this season by doing a private, digital presentation of its second line See by Chloé for industry insiders. These two events mark an interesting new chapter in the continuing story of this French brand.
