On the move and apparently to hotter climates, the Bernhard Willhelm girl wore frilly bikinis, half-finished dresses and half-face face-paint on the runway this season. “Transit and in transition, it’s about before and after,” commented Willhelm. “The completely not done and the completely done. To get in the mood of Transit. It was unfinished. Sometimes it’s a bit boring if you have a look completely ready.” In amongst all the zany hi-jinx and daffy fringing there were glimpses of the wearable pieces. A giant plaid cotton jacket, a duo print drawstring handkerchief dress, low bottomed track-pant shorts and knitted dresses with traffic arrows across the arms. And then of course the Willhelm Campus boots, surely one of the bravest collaborations in fashion that continues to yield great results. Held deep in the Marais with a tough tech-house soundtrack created by German friend Dominik Emrich, Willhelm delivered a colour riot for his rrriot girl. “Who is the girl? I don’t know, I don’t think I know her,” said Willhelm. “In the end it’s about a feeling. There is freedom maybe, an experiment, colour, an interaction.” See you next season Bernhard!
