Every few seasons, a Bianca Jagger white tux crops up. Today was that day. Barbara Bui adapted the 70s signature with tapered trousers accessorised on some variants with neat black ribbons around the neck. The streamline silhouette continued with shirts, tailored trousers and pencil length skirts, adding a military base with khaki overcoats and a series of strict jumpsuits. Then all at once the mood turned as the girls clocked off and went out after hours. The by-now staple jumpsuit was given the Midas touch and confident yellow-gold jackets and skirts led the way for the dress round. These came thick and fast down the runway in sumptuous silks with tiger faces camouflaged within tiger prints, adding a heavy dose of glamour. The quilted, belted jackets and satin slim fit trousers were the disco ball to the party. Or some such idiom. The word ‘wearable’ is a term thrown around a lot in fashion. Not here. This collection was so wearable it practically fell out of the wardrobe. Bui’s offering was in every look desirable and celebrated female versatility. An emphatic applause and load of thumbs ups from her gorgeous 7-year-old daughter sat front row was the perfect end!
