Minimal gets a makeover as A.P.C collaborate with Azzaro’s former designer Vanessa Seward. A meeting of minds, masculine and feminine designs, Seward and [Jean] Touitou had followed each other’s work for years. With comparative takes on femininity – A.P.C’s clean, straight and chic; Seward’s a little sexier, curvier chic – they arrived at a sartorial compromise. Maintaining the A.P.C signature shapes, Seward brought the waist in slightly and added some glamour to the trim. Sourcing couture fabrics from the archive holders of what used to be Soieries Abraham – who supplied fabric for Cristóbal Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent – Touitou and Seward have created two fabric-based looks: brocade and lurex. Metallics and bright blocks on tunic dresses, blouses and a printed playsuit make up the bulk of the collection, which was a bold move for A.P.C., that proved to be brilliant!
