Umit Benan believes that life is a journey, not just a destination. His passion for exploring the world makes him the perfect designer to transport the House of Trussardi into the modern world. Since his appointment as Creative Director in 2011, the Turkish designer has worked hard to translate the Italian fashion house’s heritage of discovery into a workable, modern wardrobe for the international man and woman on the move. For AW12, this involved a trip to the ancient cities of Peru. The catwalk was transformed in to a Peruvian market scene, complete with bowls of fruit, veg and flowers. There were perfectly tailored linen trouser suits in muted mauve, grey and cream, oversized knitwear belted at the waist, masculine blazers worn over high-waisted trousers, cropped pantaloons in leather and felt and chunky walking boots with stacked heels. Using a colour palette of warm, burnished orange, green and grey Benan paid homage to Trussardi’s heritage, and whetted the audience’s appetite for more. This was clean, modern dressing to compliment any wardrobe. Your winter wish list starts here.
