The notes titled the show ‘Town and Country’ and referenced the ‘sporting life’; which could be interpreted as Conneticut Hunt Club meets Park Avenue by way of the sixties. The setting was inside the palatial Armoury that was staged to resemble the grounds of a stately home and Hilfiger’s girls were easily a match for the elegant surrounding. As Uma Thurman, Mia Tyler and Elsa Sednaouni looked on, girls emerged wearing slick penny loafer inspired riding boots, super-slim oxblood leather pants and oversized double-breasted jackets, neatly topped with charming riding hats. As Hilfiger tells it “There’s an equestrian and military influence mixed with a rock ’n’ roll edge.” Indeed the military coats demanded the right sort of attention, whilst the equestrian-inspired looks won by a furlong!
