In a dark candlelit room inside the New York Public Library, Thom Browne set a macabre scene to reveal his Fall collection. A row of coffins lined up, holding the bodies of “10 beauty girls who died for fashion”. As models meandered around them, these “fashion victims” came back to life to the sound of Jeff Buckley’s ‘Hallelujah’, re-awakened by their love of fashion? Who knows, but there was a lot of love in Thom Browne’s Fall/winter offering. Narrow waists, layered bustles and exaggerated peplums hinted at haute couture whilst the shrunken check blazers, body-morphing bumps and witty ‘fox’ stoles kept things as twisted as ever!
