After so many seasons, there’s still no denying that Narciso Rodriguez is
one of the coolest, most worshipped designers in town. And he proved his worth again last night at the Theatre in Loncoln Center. For AW12, his minimalist tendencies were distinguished by over-the-top hues and dizzyingly cool patterns. Bold blood-red print dresses made of silk-wool were paired with super-sexy stiletto boots crafted from lizard and suede with pops of orange, beautiful olive green and solid charcoal overcoats cut from tweed with breathtaking Gaussian volumes so blatantly attention-grabbing we’d be inconsiderate not to talk them up! Oversized jackets and dazzling texturised dresses (in sensual silks, lux lace and soft flannels) were intentionally soothing, inducing a state of sweet homeostatis. And he unveiled his new accessories category last night that consisted of gloves, shoes and handbags made from alligator and python that were super-geometric and dripping with luxury! Sublime form and minimal elegance.
