Lacoste. New York, 11/02/12

A fake snow storm was a fitting backdrop to Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s second womenswear collection for Lacoste. This season Baptista continued to explore the company’s extensive archives; 1966 saw Lacoste kit-out the French National Ski team for the Winter Olympics, these stylish alpine uniforms combined with some photographs of a mountain motoring expedition dating from the 1930′s formed the impetus for today’s collection. Resulting in revamped alpine sweaters with strong geometric patterns and sexy skin-tight knitted ski dresses. Parkas were roomy and cocoon shaped, whilst leather jackets were padded and the merino wool luxuriously ribbed. Zippers featured heavily, hoods were transformed into robust stand alone collars and sleeves were split right up to the shoulder, creating the illusion of a draped cardigan. Uber modern après ski with a distinctly urban feel.
