Scouted by the Tom Ford, Aussie twins Jordan and Zach Stenmark are the easy-going, identical brothers who prefer slam-dunking to runway strutting.

Signed to Premier Models, Zach and Jordan never had any intentions of making any money out of their good looks, they were too busy studying for economics degrees at Sydney University. Spending their days hanging out in their town of Mosman these wholesome, blue eyed bros both play basketball for Australia, swim and run for New South Wales and play AFL (a sport which is a mixture of rugby, basketball and soccer apparently) professionally. That’s when they’re not shooting a glossy editorial or opening some international catwalk show. To date the twins have shot with Bruce Weber for Abercrombie and Fitch a campaign for Polo Ralph Lauren’s ‘Big Pony’ fragrance and walked the runway for Calvin Klein. A dashing double dose of fresh air, their relaxed attitude feels innocent and effortless in photos, making them a firm favourite with masculine designers and macho stylists. i-D online invited the two hunks in a pod to partake in a quick head-to-head.
Jordan: How do you feel when you see pictures of yourself in magazines?
Zach: It’s cool but a bit of a surreal experience. Each photo reminds you of the shoot, the country and the people you met there, which is great. When I see a picture of you I love it, especially when I think it’s a great shot. I’m really happy when you get a big job and when they turn out really well, I feel kind of proud (even though you look like me!).
Zach: Do you think our work in the fashion industry has affected our relationship as twins?
Jordan: Our relationship hasn’t changed as such, but we do spend more time together in different places and that’s special. Sometimes it’s intense spending so much time together but then again, that’s the way it has been for 19 years. All the traveling and experiencing different countries and cultures has definitely strengthened our relationship. Going through the good times and the tough times brings you closer.
Jordan: How much do you enjoy modelling?
Zach: It’s a great way to see and experience this amazing world, meet people that you never would have crossed paths with, as well as seeing all of the new fashion trends before they hit Australia and the rest of the world.
Jordan: Who is your hero?
Zach: Dad as he’s very tenacious, with a great personality and places great importance on family and always being professional. He’s run his own business for over 25 years, its been very successful and he often provides good guidance.
Jordan: What’s next?
Zach: I’m really enjoy our work currently but would eventually like to take on new challenges, maybe movies!
