“This is modern day romanticism” explained Frida Giannini after her Fall/Winter Gucci show, “A dramatic sensuality, a dark glamour”. This season Giannini’s girls oozed opulence, fearless femininity with more than a touch of noir. Tapestry textiles, sumptuous velvets and dark florals were toughened by oversize military coats, equestrian style trousers and swashbuckling boots whilst exotic animal prints, dark feathers and leather capes added classic Gucci drama. For evening, there were some devilishly sexy gowns to choose from. Vampish long peekaboo dresses of delicate tulle were held together by exquisite hand sewn crystals and sequins. This is evening wear for Pre-Raphaelite goddesses who have a dark-side; fatal seduction the name of their game.
