The Fendi invitation coated in a striking stingray effect was a tantalising clue for what Karl had up his sleeve for the Italian label this season. Exotic animal skins featured heavily in an uber-luxe collection; crocodile shift dresses, tufty brown antelope skins and some wonderfully colourful furs, that were one part tribal and one part bird plumage, combined to deliver a powerful modern day warrior. Expertly styled by i-D’s Fashion Director Charlotte Stockdale; knee length pleated kilts layered with cut-a-way leather, plaited hair across each girl’s forehead and wide buckled wrestling belts only strengthened Lagerfeld’s vision of a powerful urban combatant. Highlights included the delightfully shaggy goat-hair jumpers and a slick looking purple leather coat on i-D cover star Lara Mullen. This was unapologetic, over the top luxury as only the Fendi brand knows how!
