Cinderthriller: Best of Three

A butterfly, a safety pin and an i-D platform. Three designs that stayed in our mind. Three designers, from the Phillipines, Iran and the UK respectively, who are currently shopping at Alberto Guardiani in Milan because they entered their sketches in Cinderthriller.

In collaboration with Italian shoe brand Alberto Guardiani, i-D is delighted to announce our three finalists from the Cinderthriller design competition: Lady San Pedro, an advertising creative from Manila, Phillipines; Azadeh Zandi, a fashion design student from Iran, now living in Dubai; and Alex Noble, a designer and artist from London. From almost a thousand entries, the designs were agreed on by our stellar panel of judges, who, for those with the memory of a sieve, included i-D Founder and Editor-in-Chief Terry Jones; British shoe designer Georgina Goodman; proprietor of Parisian IT store colette, Sarah; fashion icon and shoe fanatic Anna Dello Russo; President of Hong Kong department store Lane Crawford, Andrew Keith, and daughter of the empire Rubina Guardiani.

First conceived early on in 2011, the project had one aim: to find the next big thing, a shoe designer to get excited about, to get the industry excited about. The brief was as open as could be – submit a pencil drawing, a computer design, a doodle, whatever, something that shows your creativity and ideas for a shoe in line with the Guardiani design aesthetic and i-D brand. Entries came in thick and fast, from over fifty countries, but three shined a bit brighter than the rest. Tomorrow evening at 10 Corso Como, Milan, one winner will be announced and their design put into production and retailed in Corse Como, colette in Paris and Alberto Guardiani stores worldwide. The press event runs from 5pm-7pm and cocktails from 7pm – 10pm.

We’ll be returning all glass slippers left on steps the following day.
