Like Astrid Andersen and Shaun Samson, the MAN youngers that showed straight before him, Christopher printed his name across his clothes in big billboard letters – a youthful 90s sportswear trend that’s coming back strong this season – alongside “CS” monograms in “♥” outlines printed onto logo jeans and snoods. Pink love ♥ balloons also floated up from the urban magpie’s nest of a set that Julie Verhoeven constructed at the end of the catwalk, and the soundtrack included mixes of Neneh Cherry, Sinead O’Connor, and a brilliant tropical beat blend of Talking Heads. Taking inspiration from 1995 banlieues classic La Haine, Christopher’s sporty street clothing included an anorak in oversized check, a denim boiler suit in paisley handkerchief prints, and a black-fronted bomber jacket with what Jerry Seinfeld would refer to as “pirate shirt” ruffling across its back. In Shannon’s show all the shoes came from Kickers, the rucksacks were covered in a downy fur of key rings and lanyards, and the 90s were well and truly back.
