First appearing on the pages of the magazine back in Spring 2011′s Exhibitionist Issue (see here) i-D has had one beady eye fixed on the fine fashions of Astrid Andersen for some time. A particular favourite of Consultant Fashion Director, Simon Foxton, Astrid has been leading the charge in upping the anti on the luxe-sportswear movement. Presenting as part of Lulu Kennedy’s finely curated MAN show (supported by Topman), Astrid sent a tribe of shaven headed, black lipped, gold nailed, strapping lads down the runway at The Royal Opera House. Hooded puffers, skull caps and tracksuits in abundance, the show felt like a true menswear moment. And with Mr Foxton lending a helping hand styling and i-D Fashion Editor, Elgar Johnson doing a fine job on the casting, AA proved a pretty unbeatable force on London’s ‘Men’s Day’ schedule. As the spotlight is set to shine ever brighter on the British menswear bunch come June this year, as London Menswear has its very own week on the schedule allowing our local talent to compete for sales with the international heavy-hitters, Astrid is most definitely up there with our gold medal massive. With the fashion pack on their feet out front, i-D online slipped behind-the-scenes to get some snaps of Astrid’s chaps.
