Milly, a larger than life Milanese showgirl, singer and actress, was the creative starting point and inspiration for Antonio Marras’ Fall/Winter collection. The heavy draped curtains, show lights along the runway and 45 inch vinyl invite, all set the scene for her story to unravel. This season, Marras imagined her clothes as souvenirs of everywhere she’d been, everyone she’d loved. A piece of tapestry, a swatch of a man’s suit, a section of red velvet theatre curtain, collaged together deftly by Marras to tell her story. Elegant obi style belts told of visits to Asia, whilst chic black beaded and lace dresses evoked wild nights of dancing the tarantella in Sicily. To end, the theatrical curtains were pulled back to reveal a stage of models. Cue, applause.
