Vivienne Westwood’s MAN show broke the ice with a collection inspired by David Attenborough’s critically acclaimed and controversial ‘Frozen Planet’ TV series.

The references were here for all to see; icy beards fixed to models’ faces, their hair slicked and frozen to scalps. The clothes had a real exploratory feel with heavy layers, the tailoring as precise as ever and in-keeping with the Westwood shape. The collection was a clever and thoughtful way of conveying the Westwood ethos and message. The Dame herself explained to i-D online, ”It’s always theatrical and fun to style to show, and give the boys a good time. It’s very convenient, I just take a theme regarding climate change, because we’re an endangered species, we’ve only got about 10 years to try and stop the chaos of climate change and if we don’t there’ll be mass extinction and terrible disasters. There’s 38 million climate refugees in the world today. I’ve been working with models and – I think all of us have to keep pushing the message”
