i-N Session: Marlon Roudette

Nephew of 90′s soul maestro Eagle Eye Cherry and son of epic pop producer Cameron McVey (Sugababes, All Saints, Massive Attack) musician Marlon Roudette is the ex-frontman of one hit wonder band Mattafix, now flying solo, signed to Warner Brothers.

Touring London premiering his debut album Matter Fixed as part of HMV’s Next Big Thing, the 31-year-old British/Vincentian reggae/ pop artist recounts hard-earned life lessons in his self-written and composed songs. Having enjoyed eight weeks at the top of the German charts with hit single ‘New Age’, Marlon (named after Marlon Brando), sings, raps and strums heart felt arrangements of chords and choruses centred around the routine familiarity of everyday life. Recently collaborating with BRIT and MOBO award winner Finley Quaye on standout album track ‘True To Yourself’, Marlon cites Labrinth and James Blake as dream collaborators and is always on the look out for opportunities to discover and nurture new talent.

A definite one to watch for 2012, i-D online dimmed the lights and slow danced to this exclusive, stripped back acoustic session from the man himself, Marlon Roudette.
