Decadence and excess have been the core principles of the brand since records began. This season picked up on the man who made luxury a lifestyle, the master of literature and sometime fashion philosopher Oscar Wilde (“You can never be overdressed or overeducated”/ “Looking good and dressing well is a necessity. Having a purpose in life is not”). Jack Worthing could be seen in rich brocade blazers and smoking jackets in navy and burgundy; in silk trousers and dark flower prints. After the show, Frida Giannini told i-D online she was inspired by “the decadent boys from the 19th century. I’m playing with this Romantic attitude, Oscar Wilde style”. The silhouette was mostly slim fit with a few oversized coats. The catwalk had its own splendour too, lined with mirrors at the opening, giving the impression that it was twice as long. An intelligent collection with the perfect amount of pizzazz!
