Something spellbinding lurks behind Lianne La Havas’ deep brown, doe-like eyes. Telling tragic tales of heartbreak and loss, she is the beautiful young face with a sultry, seductive voice.
First beginning to make music around the same time as she learned to tie her shoe laces, little Lianne La Havas delivers rich, tobacco stained tones and understated vocals. With a head full of cork-screw curls and a big grin, she is the London born and bred talent, suddenly destined for international fame. Discovering her passion for making her music accidentally, whilst mucking around on a toy keyboard her father gave her, Lianne did not, initially, appreciate how rare her vocal and instrumental capabilities were. Singing in a local choir just for fun, this shy beauty then went on to star in musicals before she caught the attention of various independent record labels and producers. Quickly becoming the talk of the ‘insider music industry town’ she made it onto the radars of award-winning British artists Everything Everything and Willy Mason and subsequently signed to major label Warner Brothers. Not bad for a 22-year-old art student who started out jamming to Lauryn Hill tunes alone in her bedroom.
Two years since her discovery and Lianne has gone full time with her musical talents. Performing on either side of the Atlantic, charming crowds and music execs, producers and journalists in London, Paris, and New York, she is a force to be reckoned with. Her debut EP ‘Lost and Found’ comes out late in November and she is soon to be announcing her UK tour and confirming the release date of the full album. Exciting times for an incredible talent. i-D online sat in to an intimate preview of her new material. Listen up.
