i-N Session: Cloud Boat

Intense, delicate and emotive, two man band Cloud Boat are the understated, electronic act tunnelling deep bass soundscapes designed to fuel heartbreak.

Intelligently piecing together layered bass-led instrumentals and choruses, Cloud Boat-ers Sam Rickett and Tom Clarks are the R & S signed artists laying down hollow and haunting sounds. Naming their ambient musical inclinations after a piece of work by the Lithuanian artist and composer, Mikalojus Ciurlionis, Sam and Tom aim to conjure aesthetically pleasing imagery with their tide-like tempoed tracks. Releasing the debut double sided EP ‘Lions On a Beach’ earlier this year and then embarking on their own mini-Eurpoean tour, Cloud Boat have already played support gigs for Mount Kimbie and James Blake, at their personal request. Recently winning Clash Magazine’s single of the week and backed on XFM by Mary Anne Hobbs the future looks dream-like for these sky-scaling singer songwriters.

Prepping for a UK tour alongside friends and Apparat apprentices, Ghosting Season, this London living duo are pretty busy these days. i-D Online took time out to sail away on a bed of Cloud Boat ambiance, for an i-N session rendition of B-side track ’Bastion’.
