Adidas refuels with Diesel and takes off with a new capsule trainer collection!

Taking inspiration from the latest Diesel apparel collection and applying it to six classic Adidas trainers, a marvellous mélange of style gives way to something new and super exciting. Each of the six designs has its own distinctive theme ranging from THE FORUM (inspired by London punk, complete with studs and zips) to THE ZX 700 POJAK (made with technical sporting materials with neon details and reflective stripes). Intrigued, i-D online caught up with Stefano Rosso, Strategic Brand Alliances manager and son of Diesel’s maverick founder Renzo Rosso, to get the down low on the trainers of the mo!

What do Adidas and Diesel have in common? We have many aspects in common. Firstly, a good quality product backed by years of experience and passion that keeps the brands strong and powerful to the eyes of the consumers. Then of course creativity, fun and a good dose of irreverence.

How did the collaboration come about? It all started with a capsule collection of jeans that we did for them and then we decided to do the opposite and asked them to customise some of their existing, iconic models with true Diesel DNA elements.

How do you think Diesel shoes have developed over the years, any favourite periods or trends? Or a favourite shoe in particular? For sure Diesel shoes have improved and developed over the years, especially in treatments and washes. My favourite shoe is Magnete in treated denim.

Are trainers part of your weekly wardrobe? What do you do in them? YES, definitely! I wear them every day – I basically live in them. I wear them at work, to do sport and even on the red carpet.

Do you have any other exciting collaborations in the pipeline? Yes. A capsule collection with Ducati that will hit the stores in November. Then something else to come in January that I cannot reveal yet.
