You’re Hot and You’re Cool.

A year back a merry and creative bunch jumped-started a sizzling new fashion mag going by the name of Hot & Cool.

The brainchild of i-D online contributors Letty Schmiterlow and Alice Goddard in collaboration with Theo Sion and Louise Benson, issue number three of H&C hits the shelves today. With the four fresh-thinking, forward-glancing minds behind the biannual all on the crest of ultra-exciting careers, issue three is jam-packed with the cracking content we’ve come to expect from the publication. Hop over here to get your mitts on one now and read on for i-D online’s chat with Alice Goddard, one quarter of the Hot & Cool fab foursome.

Tell us a bit about Hot & Cool… It started out as a collaboration between me, Theo Sion, Letty Schmiterlow and Louise Benson. I guess it came from both a love and hate of magazines. A lot of magazines at the moment feel inaccessible, too slick and too samey; we wanted to make something that’s more about images and ideas than shopping and advertising. My parents have a cupboard full of early i-Ds (including The i-D One Issue) which they bought new when they were about my age, so a lot of inspiration came from flicking through those.

What’s in the name? Me and Theo saw it on a book cover about interior design in Miami. It just kinda sums up everything you want a magazine to be.

Describe issue three in three words? Sizzling And Sassy.

People say good things come in three… If you could have three of anything what would it be and why? I would have three birthdays a year, I love my birthday and I get so bored waiting for a whole year to pass between each one. But if I had three birthday’s a year would that make me 57 already…

In what do you look hot-to-trot? I just bought my first suit from M&S school department, it’s pretty special.

In the scorching sun, what do you do to make yourself feel cool as a cucumber? I drink homemade ice tea from a Chinese takeaway near my house, I also have a collection (eight pairs!) of see through plastic sunglasses, so they’re on rotation throughout the summer.
