Victoria Beckham’s story must surely be one of fashion’s most fascinating… from one of the Spice Girl’s singing “Wannabe” (admittedly the better dressed one) to a bonafide and highly regarded fashion designer. With this season’s offering, I would say there can be no doubt about the transition. This was another super-luxe and polished collection from Beckham, as we have come to expect, but for Spring/Summer there was a pleasing addition of youthful edge too. Evident in the glossy army caps by Stephen Jones, billowing hoodies in gazaar and a whole heap of zipper details and grosgrain strap details that added fresh-functionality to the razor-sharp dresses. Highlights also included the panelled dresses with dropped waists and pleated skirts. This season Beckham continued her foray into accessories, working with Christian Louboutin on the killer shoes and developing a range of sophisticated bags in opulent leather, that felt, like a lot of the collection, bang on trend.
