Trussardi 1911. Milan, 23/09/11

Umit Benan premiered his debut womenswear collection for Trussardi 1911 last night at Castello Sforzseco. The grounds of the historical Milanese castle were opened up to fashion editors and the public to host a fashion show for the very first time. Focusing on wardrobe essentials such as the jacket, the shirt, the trouser and the dress, Umit applied classic masculine tailoring to oversized, drop shouldered blazers, loose trousers, soft overcoats, shirt-dresses and asymmetrical blouses. Perforated Nappa leather, delicate suede and brushed cotton came in icy Nordic hues of white, grey and blue. The collection proved Trussardi to be a brand on the move, as model’s navigated the catwalk suitcase in hand before taking their seat on an arrangement of airplane seats. The landmark show also celebrated Trussardi’s centenary; a 100 years of Italian quality, passion, craftsmanship and design. With Umit as their captain, this is a brand very much looking forward to the future.
