Tommy Hilfiger. New York, 12/09/11

Hilfiger’s girls strutted their stuff to an eclectic mash-up soundtrack including Gorillaz, The Rolling Stones and Cream, reflecting a collection with a contemporary take on a 60′s jet-set vibe. The ubiquitous American preppy elements were present, but this season, Karl Templer as creative consultant and Peter Som pumped up the hi-end feel and notched up the sophistication. Colourful plaids came in 60′s shapes, sumptuous cable knits in bold stripes, modern-looking raincoats in stiff bonded cotton and the sumptuous leatherwear felt bang up to date. The sweeping colour blocked kaftans added a whole heap of glamour, the stripes brought some Hampton’s chic, whilst the coloured camo-print added a metropolitan city edge.
