Thank god for Thom Browne, the man knows how to put on a show! There is always a sense of irreverent theatre involved with a Browne presentation and this season did not disappoint. We were invited to a warped 1920′s cocktail party, complete with decadent attitude and a Cole Porter soundtrack. Where do I begin? Well, there were curious hunchback silhouettes, exaggerated shoulders, floral dresses that had actual flowers and shrubbery attached, jackets with sleeves that met the floor, oversized pearls that begged to be twirled and an excess of beaded fringing. Amidst all the showmanship there were plenty of wearable pieces, including gorgeous flapper dresses, extremely viable bombers jackets and some very clever tailoring. Welcome to Thom Browne’s bizarre and surreal world.
